Apparently, China is making its own version of Iljimae, to come out in November and starring Wallace Huo and Liu Shi Shi. In this version, Iljimae is a high official who loses it when his beloved wife is killed, and LSS is one of the super-fighter-rebels who joins him on his justice quest. Man, dramabeans website started the hate engine for Athena really early. It's close to half a year before it premiers but the post and comments to that post on Kim Hyun Joong being offered (presumably a small but high-profile role a la TOP in IRIS) a role in Athena are something else. A lot of the Asian idols come from the "flower boys" school of appeal - elaborate hair, extreme clothes, delicate facial features (could cross dress as a girl, probably, with success), and a bunch of slashy fanservice.
